September 16th 2021: 19th anniversary
of the death of the Venerable Servant of God
The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and the Postulation of the Cause of Card. François-Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân, are glad to inform you, all devotees and friends of the Cardinal that on September 16th, 2021 will be celebrated the 19th anniversary of the death of the Venerable Servant of God. The Eucharistic celebration in Rome, will take place on 17thSeptember at 12:00 a.m. in the Basilica Santa Maria, in Trastevere. On this anniversary we invite everyone to pray and ask His intercession for all those who suffer the consequences of Covid19, especially in Vietnam and in the poorest nations.
VAN THUÂN HOME (India 2020)
Van Thuân Home, a centre for released male prisoners located in Carmelaram, Bengaluru, under the PMI national office, was presented by the Director Fr. George Kalassery VC. The prisoners are reintegrated through sports activities, counselling, psychotherapy, detoxification, prayer services, vocational and business training, seminars etc. Recently, during the pandemic isolation, a paper bag production unit was set up by inmates. Fr Francis Kodiyan MCBS was inspired to found Van Thuân Home when he received a relic of Van Thuân from Pope Francis during his visit to the Vatican. Van Thuân Home has received inmates who have been released due to efforts to decongest prisons by the authorities.
The blessing of the structure took place on 8 December 2020.
NOMINATION VICE-POSTULATOR (14 novembre 2020)
The Postulator of the Cause of Cardinal Van Thuân, Dr Waldery Hilgeman, with the approval of His Eminence Cardinal Peter K.A. Turkson, has appointed Rev. Father Marco Fernando da Silva Luís (of the Diocese of Setúbal in Portugal), as Vice Postulator of the Cause.
For some years he has been actively collaborating and supporting the Cause through conferences, publications and trips spreading the spirituality to Portuguese-speaking countries.
FAENZA (Italy 15.10.2020)
An initiative of Communion and Liberation of the diocese, which organised the presentation of the book “Van Thuân, Free Between the Bars” by the journalist Teresa Gutiérrez de Cabiedes. The event was attended by the bishop of the diocese, His Excellency Mgr. Mario Toso, Dr. Waldery Hilgeman and Dr. Luisa Melo, respectively postulator and administrator of the Cause of Beatification. The meeting was moderated by journalist Elio Pezzi.

FRIENDS OF CARDINAL VAN THUÂN (Philippines 2020)
The Friends of Cardinal Van Thuân are a group of Filipino Catholics from different cities in the country and around the world, who have organised themselves to work and promote the Cause of beatification and canonisation of Cardinal Van Thuân.
SYMPOSIUM ON THE SERVANT OF GOD, CARDINAL VAN THUÂN (Brazil 2019)
On the evening of 12 June 2019, the Symposium on the Servant of God, Cardinal François-Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân, was held in Petropolis, Brazil. The event was organised by Our Lady of Divine Love Seminary and the Centre for Theology and Humanities of the Catholic University of Petropolis (UCP).
The Symposium lectures were presented by His Excellency Denis de Souza and by Deacons Pablo Freitas and Thomaz Gimenez.
PARISH MADONNA DI LOURDES E SANT' AGOSTIN0 (Italia 28.04.2019)
The parish priest Fr. Gennaro Giordano of the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes and St Augustine in Castellammare di Stabia on the occasion of the celebrations to mark the 91st anniversary of the birth of Cardinal François Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân celebrated Holy Mass.
Mr. Rodolfo Armenio, collaborator of the Postulation, was invited to present the life and spirituality of Cardinal Van Thuân.
At the end of the Mass, the parish priest blessed a portrait of the Venerable and read the letter sent by H. Em. Cardinal Peter K.A. Turkson.

The association's goal is to spread the words and testimonies of "the heroic cardinal". The official opening was attended by the Redemptorist Fathers of Vietnam's capital, Catholic intellectuals and students, accompanied by colleagues from other religions interested in the figure of the cardinal.
The secretary of the association asked those present to pray for the cause of beatification currently underway, and to create in-depth sessions on the Church's social doctrine and current events.
Nha Trang Phanxico Xavie – Foundation (2014)
The Foundation was created by H.E. Mgr. Joseph Võ Đúc Minh in the diocese of Nha Trang in memory of Cardinal Nguyên Van Thuân. This was the Diocese where he exercised his episcopal ministry from 1967 to 1975.

Dr. Liborio Picciché is a devotee of Card. Van Thuân wanted to set up this Study with the aim of taking care of the suffering human person; educating medical staff to live in particular the virtue of hope so that it becomes a constant attitude of the heart; offering medical service with respect and delicacy and helping people to open up to hope.
Moreover, it will deepen the spirituality of Card. Van Thuân, a witness of Christian hope, to make him known and loved.

VIA CRUCIS IN MEMORY

The sculptor, Mr Mauro Bernardi, together with the community of Berzo Demo (Brescia, Italy), organises every year during Lent the Via Crucis in memory of Cardinal Van Thuân. He also has donated some sculptures to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.
“MATER UNITATIS” FOUNDATION (Mexico 1999)
The Mater Unitatis Foundation was created in 1999 by Cardinal François Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân, who entrusted it to the Mexican Ricardo Padilla.
The charism is to offer a path of spirituality to the people who would like to accept, live, share and proclaim the Gospel of hope.
The foundation's path is guided by the writings of Cardinal Van Thuân.
The pillars of the foundation are: holiness in work, progress of peoples, evangelisation, and service.
FORMER SEMINARIANS of Huê Archdiocese (Vietnam)
Every three months, the group of former seminarians of Huê publishes a newsletter on their activities and an article, a book or a meditation on Cardinal Van Thuân's spirituality.
Memorial House of Cardinal Nguyên Van Thuân (Huê – Vietnam)
The Xuân Bích Major Seminary of the diocese of Huê has created the Memorial House in the family home of the Venerable Cardinal Francis Xavier in the Phủ Cam district of Huê City, where priests, religious and lay people gather every third day of the month to pray and celebrate the Eucharist.
VAN THUÂN HOUSE OF FORMATION (Brazil)
The Van Thuân House of Formation is a community where future priests of the Mission of the Saints are trained. In collaboration with the Diocese of Taubaté - SP, Brazil, the seminarians are trained according to the Formation Directives of the Church in Brazil, and the Spirituality, Apostolate and Charism of the Mission of the Saints.
In addition to the events already mentioned, there were many other activities such as: presentations of publications, conferences and meetings in different parts of Italy, Portugal, Spain, Germany, France, Holland, Norway, USA, Canada, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Angola, Malaysia, etc.
